Grease is the Word!
On Friday, August 10, 2007, Downtown Southport, Inc. presented the
sing-along version of the classic movie musical, Grease, on the Garrison
Lawn on Southport's Waterfront!

WHERE WE LIVE  kicked-off the evening with all kinds
of fun!!

First up - a HULA HOOP CONTEST!
I think these ladies could have gone on
hula-hooping all night!  We finally called a
draw and declared them BOTH winners!
Next up - a bubble blowing contest with plenty of Bazooka Joe
for everyone!
Elinda (left) won the time trial competition by blowing TWENTY-SEVEN
bubbles in 60 seconds.  Conall (middle) blew the biggest bubble at
about 6 inches.  Kids and adults alike (right) practice blowing bubbles
before the judging began.
Hand Jive was next, and a costume contest; we just had to
declare ALL of our Pink Ladies and Butterflies winners!
And then......the MAIN EVENT!
GREASE TRIVIA BOWL!!!!
It was a heated contest between our ten teams.....it all came
down to three teams (the Pink Ladies, the Yankees, and the
Number 10s) in our lightning round finals.......in the end,
Lindee took it home for the Yankees by completing the lyrics
to the ENTIRE chorus of "We Go Together" - that's a LOT of
words!

After the fun, we all settled in to watch the movie, and we
almost made it through before the thunderstorm hit!!

Southport, Inc., and EVERYONE who came out to
make this evening SO MUCH FUN!!!
