Go, Jump in the Lake! 2010>
|
Hard to believe we've got THREE races under our belts!
Saturday, September 4, 2010 started VERY early for some of us, as
we made our way in the dark, coffee cups clutched in our hands, to
set up for registration...even though we got there at 6AM there were
still eager runners there waiting for us!! WOW - LOVE the
enthusiasm!!
It was a beautiful morning for a run around the lakes, that's for sure,
and our field of 5kers eagerly gathered at the starting line just before
8am. We were just about ready to start when one last entrant came
racing to the registration table...and wouldn't you know it but she
went on to win the whole darn footrace? Congratulations to
Suzanne Tulsey of Oak Island, our first EVER female overall
winner! Close on her heels was Robert Kent of Winnabow, who
took home top honors for the males, followed by George Napier,
Jr. of Oak Island and Ken Shadid of Southport. Rounding out the
top three women were Carmen Hilliard of Oak Island and Alison
Anderson of Leland. Great job, folks!! For complete 5K results,

The 1.5 Mile Fun Run stepped off shortly after 9am, and was a great
mix of kids, adults, families, and even a whole group of staff and
patients from the New Hope Clinic in Boiling Spring Lakes - what a
great way to promote healthy living!! Top awards in the Fun Run
went to nine year old Kiersten DeGrange of Southport, and four
year old Ryan Lupton of Boiling Spring Lakes (who ran the whole
way IN FLIP FLOPS!) Joanne and Raymond Commins of
Southport grabbed the second place finish for males and females,
with Allyse Williams of Southport and Harrison Rutland of Rocky
Point completing our Fun Run top six. Complete 1.5 Mile results
are available below.
