Go, Jump in the Lake! 2008>
The sun was just
starting to rise over
Spring Lake as we
arrived to set up for our
Inaugural Go, Jump in
the Lake! 5K and 1.5
Mile Fun Run/Walk
,
held August 30, 2008 in
beautiful Boiling Spring
Lakes, NC.
The August sun was already beating down when the 5K began just
after 8am.  The water stations, presented by the
Boiling Spring
Lakes Youth Council
and The Iapalucci Law Firm, PLLC were a
welcome sight to most racers!!
With almost 50 runners and walkers pre-registered for the event, we
were
pretty confident that we would have a successful race....but
imagine our excitement when racers kept arriving...and arriving...
and arriving!  All told, 88 people ran or walked around Spring Lake
that morning  - what a thrilling sight!
The first runner approaches the Luau Law
Firm Water Station.......
The first runner to cross the finish
line was
Todd Rodzik, of
Wilmington, followed closely by
Charlie Martin of Oak Island and
Mike Cox of Wrightsville Beach.
First down the chute for the women
was
Allison Anderson of Leland,
followed by
Katelyn Alston of
Winnabow and
Sara Over of
Wilmington.  For complete race results, please see below.

As the 5K-ers crossed the finish line, we were so excited to see that
many of them ACTUALLY JUMPED IN THE LAKE!!!  Hooray!
The 1.5 Mile Fun Run/Walk entrants
were a diverse bunch - speedy kids,
grandparents and grandchildren,
serious race walkers, and a whole
platoon of parents with strollers!
The top spots for both males and
females were very nearly swept by
