Where We Live
building better communities
Adopt-A-Highway
Where We Live is proud to have
adopted Highway 87 in Boiling
Spring Lakes!  In doing so, we
pledge to clean up litter along our 2.5
mile stretch of road, the main
thoroughfare through BSL, once a
quarter.  As we discovered while
doing our first clean-up on May 10,
2008, it's a BIG JOB!!!  We will
always need as many hands as
possible for our scheduled clean-ups,
so we hope you can help us out next
time,
even if you don't live in BSL!
Every one of us drives this stretch of
A MILLION thanks to the folks who
helped us out during our first
Adopt-A-Highway clean-up on May 10,
2008!!! Pictured, left-right, are

road on our way between 17 and 133....and I bet none of us like
looking at the trash!

If getting out on the road and picking up trash just is not your
thing....
you can still help.  It's really easy - DON'T LITTER.  We
all have to share this space....and we need to take care of it.  That
includes respecting our environment, and each other.  Please,
PLEASE, don't throw your trash out of your car window, and that
includes cigarette butts.

If you want to take it a step further, you can participate in the
NCDOT's "Swat-A-Litterbug" initiative.  When you spot someone
littering, take down their license plate number.  Then all you have to
do is call 1-877-DOT-4YOU (1-877-368-4968) or report them
online.  You can even send away for "Swat-A-Litterbug" postcards
that you can keep in your car with you.

Littering in the State of North Carolina is an infraction under
N.C.G.S § 14-399.  Littering is punishable by a fine up to $100.00
and up to 12 hours of community service.

Our next clean-up will be in September, 2008 - please check back
for the exact date.....and in the meantime, PUT TRASH IN IT'S
PROPER PLACE!
