January 2008 THIRD THURSDAY:
Soup Swap
January 17, 2008 was a miserable, cold & rainy day - perfect for our
January Third Thursday!!  What better weather to get you in the mood
for some hearty, homemade soup?

The premise is a simple one:  make 6 quarts
of soup, freeze it in one-quart containers, and
trade with your friends.  Then you've got a
great variety of delicious soups to see you
through the winter weeks ahead.  Our hostess,
Eleanor Erickson, of course had to up the
ante
just a little bit.......
Eleanor welcomed the swappers to the beautiful Garrison House in
Southport with warm drinks and sweets, and a few surprises! Not
only would each soup maker have the chance to participate in the
"Telling of the Soup" (an opportunity to "talk up" your soup) but door
prizes would be awarded to the soups that were "First Picked",
"Frequently Picked" (the first soup gone), and "Finally Picked".
The Telling of the Soup
Each soup maker drew a number and chose soups one at a time, in
order........

All in all, we had ten different
soups, and I know more than one
person went home wishing they'd
been able to grab a quart of each
one!

If you missed out, and want a
