March 2009 THIRD THURSDAY: Game Night
|
On March 19, 2009 we gathered at the home of Joan & Richard
Lombardi for a night of fun and board games! It was a welcome
mid-week opportunity to relax and decompress.
Some gamers got serious about
"Shut-the-Box," which I had never
seen before. Turns out this game
dates back to the 12th century, is
easy to learn, and combines strategy
and luck for a game most everyone
loves (and quickly becomes addicted
to!) This is a great game to travel with, you can play it on airplanes,
in the car, on the beach.....it's also great for kids learning addition!
We checked out Katie & Mark Deese's favorite game, "I Love the '80's", which turned into quite the heated team competition...
|
...the kids got into the spirit of things with a couple of rounds of "Honey Bee Tree".....Jack Erickson seemed shocked by some of Max Iapalucci's more daring maneuvers.....
|
Thank you so much to the Lombardis for hosting us!! A great time
was had by all - hope you will join us next time!
...but the real hilarity ensued when
Elie Erickson pulled out her new
favorite game, "Mad Gab"...we
almost didn't finish the game for
laughing so much! Mad Gab is, well,
a bit maddening at times, (witness the
puzzled look on Mark Deese's face
as teammate Sherry Stocks reads out
a puzzle), but totally fun, even when
you don't keep score (which I think
we had given up by the end, in favor
of just reading out more and more
puzzles!) Never heard of this game?
You should definitely check it out!! I
believe it's even endorsed by "Sayer
Hutches Hiccup Ark Her!"
